What is the ABN AMRO Business Credit Card?

The ABN AMRO Business Credit Card is a Mastercard credit card for ABN AMRO business customers — from sole traders and freelancers to small and medium-sized enterprises. The card offers a high business spending limit and is fully integrated into the ABN AMRO Business environment, giving you a clear overview of all business expenditure and easy transaction exports for your administration.

An important advantage for entrepreneurs: the credit card is registered against the company's Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number, not your personal BKR. This means business usage does not directly affect your personal credit registration. For sole traders and freelancers, different rules may apply — always verify this when applying.

The card is available to entrepreneurs who hold an ABN AMRO business current account. Sole traders, general partnerships and limited companies are all eligible. ABN AMRO offers two variants: the Standard Business Card and the Gold Business Card, each with their own limits and benefits.

Costs and fees

The annual fee is approximately €45 to €75 per year, depending on the variant chosen. The Standard Business Card costs approximately €45 per year, the Gold Business Card approximately €75. Both variants offer an interest-free period of 30 days — if you settle the full balance within this period, no interest is charged.

If you do not pay the balance in full, ABN AMRO charges the standard credit card interest rate. For business use it is strongly recommended to settle the balance in full each month, both for cash flow management and to avoid interest costs. Employee cards may be available at an additional cost — enquire with ABN AMRO about the exact terms.

An ABN AMRO business current account is mandatory. If you are not yet a business customer with ABN AMRO, you need to open a business account first. The monthly costs of a business account with ABN AMRO are in addition to the annual fee of the credit card.

Business benefits

The integration with the ABN AMRO Business app makes managing business expenditure straightforward. You can view transactions in real time, instantly block the card in case of loss and adjust spending limits. Transactions are exportable for processing in your administration — convenient for your bookkeeper or accountant.

The spending limit up to €10,000 makes the card suitable for larger business purchases, business travel and supplier payments. Through employee cards with configurable sub-limits, you give staff the ability to make payments while retaining full control as the business owner. Travel insurance can be added optionally for business travel.

ABN AMRO provides 24/7 dedicated business customer support. As an entrepreneur you can always reach a specialised business team — a significant advantage over smaller neobanks and fintech providers that offer less comprehensive business support.

ABN AMRO Business vs alternatives

Compared to Knab Business, ABN AMRO is more expensive but offers greater banking security and a broader service range. Knab has a lower annual fee and provides direct accounting integrations with Exact Online and other packages — a significant advantage for freelancers who want to automate their administration. If accounting integration is the priority, Knab wins on that point.

The ING Business Card is comparable in concept and price — both major Dutch banks offer a business Mastercard for existing business customers. The difference lies mainly in app functionality and specific terms. If you already bank with ING for business, the ING Business Card is the natural choice.

The AMEX Business Gold offers a points-earning programme for business expenditure — attractive for entrepreneurs with high monthly spending who want to benefit from business travel perks. However, AMEX is more expensive and has a lower acceptance rate than Mastercard. ABN AMRO is the best choice if you are already a business customer, want a trusted Dutch bank and value reliable business support over extra rewards benefits.

Frequently asked questions about the ABN AMRO Business Credit Card

Do I need to be an ABN AMRO business customer? +
Yes, an active ABN AMRO business current account is required. If you don’t have one yet, you can open it online (1–3 business days). You can then apply for the business credit card via ABN AMRO Mijn Zakelijk.
Is the BKR registration on my personal or business record? +
The BKR registration is at business level, linked to your KVK number. This means it does not appear on your personal BKR file — an advantage if you also want to apply for a mortgage or personal finance.
Does ABN AMRO Business offer accounting integration? +
The ABN AMRO Business Credit Card does not have a direct link to accounting packages such as Exact Online or AFAS. Transactions can be manually exported via CSV. For automatic integration, the Knab Business Credit Card (€38/yr) is a better option.
What are the costs? +
Costs vary depending on the card type (Business Card or Corporate Card). Contact ABN AMRO Business for exact rates. An annual card fee applies plus potential transaction costs for foreign payments.
Can I add additional employee cards? +
Yes, with the ABN AMRO Corporate Card you can link multiple employee cards to one central account. This enables centralised cost management and per-employee reporting.
